Do you know the classic Christmas story, The Gift of the Magi by O.Henry? In case you need a refresher, here’s a brief synopsis:

In their modest financial circumstances, newlyweds Della and Jim struggle to find the perfect Christmas gift for one another. By sacrificing their most prized possessions, they are each able to afford the the perfect gift for each other. Through a bit of situational irony, the gifts are useless since they each related to their prized possession but they come to realize that their love and sacrifice are the best gifts they could ever give.

The Gift of the Magi book by O.Henry

A bit mushy? Yes. But seeing as this is our first Christmas as a married couple, O. Henry | Gift of the Magi | DellaI thought it would be appropriate. As in previous years, I like to choose a theme on which to base my holiday shopping guides so thisyear I’m loosely basing my shopping inspiration on the story of Jim and Della.

Newlywed or not, the gift ideas I’ll be providing over the next two weeks should hopefully give you some inspiration for a few people on your shopping list (or to add to your own wish list)!

So with that, next up, I’m jumping in with a by-the-book gift guide.

Stay tuned!
