Meet Me in St. Louis is not technically a Christmas movie, but it did introduce us to the ever classic “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and I do love Judy Garland and Margaret O’Brien in it.
The movie follows the Smith family throughout the year of 1903 in anticipation of the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis. We enjoy a little song and dance throughout the seasons including Christmas when a major family life change is looming just a few days away.
Of course, Judy Garland is charming and at the center of the story as the second eldest daughter, Esther. Tootie, Margaret O’Brien’s character as the littlest sister, is especially adorable and amusing, particularly her obsession with death and burying her dolls in the backyard.
So here’s a bit of inspiration, pulled from the entire movie, not just the Christmas season…
