One thing I was certain I would enjoy during this whole wedding planning process was registering for gifts. Being able to finally get rid of cheap dishes and gadgets has been a long time coming. Everyone I talk to keeps saying, “It’s so fun! Just scan everything in sight!” So I was surprised to find what a chore it has been. Perhaps I’m over thinking it, but we don’t want to register for things we don’t want or need.

Coveted Dishes on Flee Fly FlownWhen it comes to dishes, I’m struggling with my practical conscience that’s telling me to go with plain old white everyday dishes, which is fighting with my artistic sensibility that is telling me that white is boring. I’m finding that I don’t want plain white, but non-white, fun dishes that I like are either hard to find, not practical, overpriced or out of stock. Ugh!

So with dishes on the brain, here’s a smattering of dish designs that I like but may not end up on our table when all is said and done. Also - if you have any other dish suggestions, I am all ears. We can’t make up our mind!

Dish Wish on Flee Fly Flown

Top row, left to right: Velocity place setting. Like the look, but a bit too modern for my taste. Thomaspaul “Ornithology” Dinner Plate set. I love these but they’re not porcelain, they’re more of a plastic.

Middle row: Song Meadow Martha Stewart collection. Perhaps a little too girly for the fiance.

Bottom row: Fish in the Sea dishes. Black Forest Dinner Plate. Floral Arrangement – again, too girly.

Happy Wednesday,

P.S. I realize that if my biggest problem is what dishes to register for, I’m doing just fine. I do have perspective (most of the time). :)

Two great things are happening this month: St. Patrick’s Day and the First Day of Spring!

If you haven’t picked up on it already, I’m in love with green (see previous post and the dress I wore). Since I love it so much and vibrant colors are in for the season, I thought I would pull together some of the green items I envy at the moment for your viewing pleasure.

Flee Fly Flown Green Wardrobe Inspiration

Top row, left to right:

- Dropwaist Emerald Dress, $118.  I own this dress in black and am SO tempted to get the green.

- Sea Stripe Shoulder Bag, $12. For market, beach or whatever!

- Green Bow, $16. Hair bows are back…but use sparingly.

Middle row:

- Toothpick Jeans in Festival Green, $125.

- Hunter Green Nails, $14. Dark nails in a hunter green for a change from the gray?

- Blarney Headphones, $77. Dance a jig wherever you are.

Bottom row:

- Sheer Blouse, $39.99. I wispy blouse that will be a great piece to go from the colder to warmer temperatures.

- Green Peeps, $69.99.

- Re-Cycling T, $20. Well, Earth Day isn’t too far off either. And it’s always a good reminder.

Just remember, green in moderation, be it beer or clothing. And yes, I will definitely be wearing green jeans on St. Patrick’s Day.

Happy March!

I’m a little slow on the draw for the Chinese New Year actual celebration day, but according to the zodiac calendar, 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. And since most people are seeing red during the month of February anyway, I thought I’d kick it off with a little “Year of the Dragon” inspiration.

A trip to China wouldn’t hurt, but if that doesn’t happen, here’s some addition Dragon inspired ideas:

Chinese New Year, Year of the Dragon inspiration
